Holiday Fair
34. Week of November 22 Birch 4
Sleeping beauty stirs and wakes
Arises, steps into the flow
Of life; her powers bloom and grow
The thread of her life’s work she takes.
My imprint into life is pressed
The world and I are doubly blessed.
So this year at our school fair I helped with the marionette performance. I was the storyteller. My job was fairly simple to that of the other artists that I was working with, who moved the puppets on their strings and gave them life and expression, passing them from hand to hand across the set they had designed and built. As in all of the performing arts, our harmonious sense of timing was what made our play magical - we were oh so carefully watching and listening and responding to one another. We practiced and rehearsed and presented three performances, each one different. The audience was rapt.
This week’s verse is about commitment, about dedication, about being all -in. After we cross over into winter’s darkness at the beginning of November each year, we have the opportunity to let go of what no longer serves us, and re-dedicate ourselves to what is most important in our lives.
“Taking up the thread” - there is an allusion to the youngest of the fates, who spins the thread of life. Take up your work again. It’s time to make something new.
And it’s always more fun when we can collaborate with others!
