32. Week of November 8
My efforts yield fruit
I have the strength to give the gift
Of myself; the fabric woven well
A clarion call, a struck bell
The pattern clears, hearts lift
My own voice, no longer mute.
My daughter just called me and asked if I could write a poem for an event that she is having at her college tomorrow night.
Ok sure.
It’s not Shakespere. It could be better if I had more time. But it works.
“This lantern is given to light your path
For the journey may be dark
And all who have walked this path before -
Our love provides a spark
To light your flame - your knowledge, purpose, passion, intent is thine
We lift you up and hold you safe
But only you can shine!”
This is something that I can do. I do it in my own way. And it is so helpful to me when others see what I can do and call upon me to contribute. She just texted me her edits - what is given is changed and adapted and becomes something new again.
All of this is happening in the present tense. I was planning to write this post about something else - I was sitting here thinking about what to write when she called.
The phone dings. The bell rings. Opportunity knocks. What you need is in your hand. You are already weaving the tapestry. Do you see the pattern?
