28 Week of October 10
What I really am
Is so awesomely vast
Like the sun, my thoughts shine -
Illusions dispelled! Confusion outcast!
Muddy waters sparkle with clarity
Hope-filled and healed, my wishes fly free.
This was a great week for me personally, which is why I am writing last week’s post right now. I got to step away from my day to day for …a day, which gave me some perspective. I got to see all three of my children. I got to remember what is important to me.
Getting on an airplane - the world looks different when you can see it from a distance, when you let yourself step back and gaze a little. The brush strokes resolve into a pattern. Murkiness becomes clarity. You gain some objectivity.
In the life of the year, this is like the last glimpse of the overall landscape before we begin to really descend into the dark valley of winter. It’s like we are on a ridge and can see the path that we have traveled looping back along the hillside behind us. Ah yes, down there is the river I crossed. And there is the meadow where I ate lunch. And above me to the left, lit by the setting sun, is the summit of the mountain I climbed.
It’s a moment, like a fish breaking the surface of the water. Oh - I’ve accomplished a lot. Oh - I remember what I love. Oh- I can take a moment to look around me.
And then I walk on.
